2 Big Name Brands Recall Their Dog Food!
Proctor & Gamble in a press release just issued is voluntary recalling select products from Iams and Eukanuba dry dog & cat foods, due to the possibility of Salmonella contamination. According to P&G, there have not yet been any reports of illness due this contamination at this time.
A dog or cat that has ingested salmonella bacteria may become lethargic and have diarrhea (possibly with blood), fever, and vomiting. Some dogs will have only decreased appetite, fever and stomach pain. A real concern is that infected dogs can become carriers and infect other animals or even humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and begins to show signs of these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian ASAP.
