Dog Grooming - Is This The Next Level? - What one groomer did to keep her help and Clientele!

Almost all business owners these days face daunting challenge when it comes to retaining skilled employees and long term customers.

Melissa Gale, the owner of Beyond the Flea, who has operated her own dog-grooming business for over 20 years has begun to offer a variety of new services, including Reiki massage, in an attempt to both attract new customers and to keep highly skilled employees.

Gale, who has a degree in animal care and is a certified groomer, said “The demand is there, but there aren’t a lot of certified professionals available to meet that need.” One of the ways she does this is, rather than taking on new employees, she hires independent contractors, which operate as a business within a business.

This business work well for everybody concerned; the consumer is offered a greater variety of services, the business does not have to hire and train new employees and the independent contractors don’t have the startup cost associated with establishing a new business.

One of Melissa Gale’s former employees, Sue Figueiredo, had this to say, “I would never have been able to start a business on my own.”

Figueiredo, who is a Reiki master that began offering her services at Beyond the Flea a few months ago continued, ”Melissa has a great reputation in the region and people really trust her. It’s a brand that’s already established.”
